We are definitely fulfilling our dream as we started travelling around the world. Our first destination is South America and we travel with no plans or specific dates established.
Right now, while you are reading our post, we are surely somewhere in Argentina enjoying the scenery and beautiful nature. In the beginning, Chile was our first destination. However, due to the protests of the Chilean people over the rise in transport prices and the government’s decisions to use the military troops to stop them from creating only more disorders, we have decided to change plans.
What we know for sure is that every day that will pass will be another day in which we will be proud of our decision to leave everything behind and travel the world.
We know that many of you might start thinking:
Are you or your family rich?
What are you going to do with your work?
How are you going to earn money to travel?
And the family, how can you be far from your family?
To answer all these questions, we direct you to another post which we wrote at the exact moment when we left our jobs to follow our dream.
CLARIFICATION: This is not a post for you to envy us.
The truth is that we have decided to write this post because we think that if travelling around the world is your dream as well, we hope to inspire you to do the same.
You only need three things to pursue this dream:
1. Believe in yourself and in your dream
2. Have some money to start with
3. Plan and Organise in advance
Sorry amigo, but the first two points only depends on you.
However, in this post, we will try to help you with the last point to plan and organize in advance.
Our Plan (without plans)
In recent months we have continually thought about what we will do or where we will go, however each time we returned to the same doubts. So after a little while, we have decided to travel with a plan without plans. In this section, we will explain what does it really mean.
A plan without plans is something like: you have to organize the basics for a trip without thinking about what to do or where to go exactly. Sounds a bit weird right!
For example, we have organized everything up to the last detail (PLAN), however, we haven’t organized anything what we are going to do on this trip (NO PLANS).
We will explain some things that we have decided to follow during our trip:
1. Travel as much as possible without airplanes. Travelling slowly allows us to enjoy more places and save money.
2. Follow summer and the sunny seasons as much as possible.
3. Respect our daily budget.
4. Do not hurry and follow our feelings.
5. Once a month stay in a good hotel and enjoy all the comforts (this always respecting our budget).
You can not imagine how much adrenaline can be accumulated when you don’t know what you are going to do tomorrow.
Our philosophy might sound a bit crazy, however, we also have to say that even the most adventurous or disorganized person should follow certain things before organizing a trip mainly to avoid problems on the way.
PLANING TRIP
Below we are sharing our way of preparation and things we did before we followed our dream and start travelling around the world.
HAVE A TRIP BUDGET
It might seem obvious but the first thing you are going to need for travelling is a specific amount of money. With a specific number in your head, you can start making plans on how much you need to save every month to reach your budget.
To give you an idea, our budget for the world trip was 40 EUR/per person/per day. This includes everything, accommodation, food, transport, tours and more.
CHOOSE TRAVEL DESTINATION AND TIME FOR TRAVELLING
Now, you should already have your trip budget or you are getting closer. The next step is to decide your travel destination and how much time you will dedicate to travelling.
It was very important for us to set some basic rules since deciding to travel the world in one year is a bit ambitious.
Our plan was to start travelling in South America to follow the summer season there and respect our daily budget.
WHEN TO TRAVEL
Choosing the right season is very important so you can avoid rainy season or bad weather.
For example, if you live in Europe and you want to go to South America during their summer, you will have to travel during European winter. It is true that South America is huge and you can find variable temperatures in each region, however, in general, the months between October till March are the best for travelling there.
GET YOUR FIRST FLIGHT
If you want to travel to the other side of the world and start your new adventure, at some point you will have to get your flight ticket.
We bought our one-way flight from Barcelona to Santiago de Chile a few moths before the trip as after days of searching we found a great deal with Iberia airlines.

PASSPORT AND IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS
What is the most important thing for a frequent traveller? Yes, the Passport!
If you still do not have a passport getting one will be your first thing to do. It always takes time and a lot of energy so yes, start now!
If you already have a passport, you should definitely check the expiration day as many countries will not accept a passport which expires within six months from the start day of your trip.
Our experience: Simone’s passport was expiring soon, so he definitely needed to get a new one. It took him about two months to receive a new passport so just keep it mind when renewing your passport.
Another advice and totally recommended is to get an International driving license. Normally it is valid for one to three years depending on the country you will travel to. So if you are planning to rent a car during your trip, it is always better to have it even if nobody asks for it.
MAKE COPY OF ALL DOCUMENTS
We always travel with copies of all our important documents like passport, IDs or driving license. We carry all copies in our luggage and we also save all documents in Google Drive or Dropbox.
Our advice, save everything you can online as you never know when you will need it. We also left copies of all documents to our families so in an urgent case then can still send it to us when we are on the way.
As people say, better safe than sorry.
PREPARE YOUR FAMILY
It may seem like an obvious step, however, it is always good to notify and prepare your family that you will be travelling for some time.
When we were informing our families, they had different reactions and sometimes they just need time to absorb all information and get used to the fact that you won’t be reachable all the time.
GIVE A NOTICE AT WORK
It is an important step as it might take months before you are able to leave your job. Check clearly the conditions of your work contract and when exactly you have to give notice to not get into troubles and lose money.
In our case, we informed our employer 2/3 months ahead so they had time to find someone else instead.
TRAVEL INSURANCE
Totally necessary and essential like having a passport. Every time we travel we have travel insurance as you never know what can happen during your trip.
Currently, there are many insurance companies offering travel insurance and it might be difficult to choose the right one. Our advice is to take this step slowly, investigate and read all the conditions before you make your final choice.

VACCINATIONS AND MEDICAMENTS
If you are thinking of travelling to exotic or not so developed countries, it is always recommended to get the correct vaccinations.
To know which vaccination you should get, visit your doctor or local medical center to ask about it.
In general, we have these vaccinations for our World Trip:
Yellow fever, Hepatitis A, B, Tetanus, Tyfus, Cholera
Most of these vaccinations have various cycles and you will need some time between each cycle. Our advice is to start at least 6 months before your trip to make sure you can get all your vaccinations on time.
Regarding the medicaments, we always carry first aid kit in hand luggage and bigger kit with other medicaments in our backpacks.
In our first aid kit, you will find the medicaments we might use more frequently like pain killers, eye drops or travel sickness pills.
In the bigger kit, we carry medicaments we almost never use like antibiotics or anti-malaria pills.
Our Advice: If you are going to travel for a longer period, we recommend to buy a water filter. We use the Sawyer filtration system for daily use to also avoid buying plastic bottles all the time.

VISA
Getting a visa is a very specific topic based on the country you are coming from and where are you going to travel.
Many countries offer the option to get Visa at the airport when entering the country. Sometimes you can get Visa online or your country has an agreement with that specific country and you don’t need Visa at all.
As we don’t have an exact plan when we are going to be in a specific country, the best advice is to make a list of countries you know that for sure you need to get a Visa before coming.
For us, this country is, for example, China, as you cannot obtain Visa online either at the airport. What we have to do is basically going first to countries around China that provide Chinese Tourist Visa and get it there before entering China itself.
CREDIT CARDS AND PAYMENT
During your trip, you will most likely visit a country which is using a different currency than your local currency.
If you are going on a shorter trip, we would say that not so much preparation is needed. However, the difference is when you are going to travel for some months.
In our case, we travel with a credit cards, debit card, and two prepaid cards. We almost never use credit and debit cards only in case of emergency. For our daily use, we have two prepaid cards: Revolut and Transferwise.
Both of them have simple Apps and a great exchange rates to withdraw or send money, just what you need for your trip. They also have two different payment systems (one MasterCard and the other Visa) so you are practically covered almost everywhere.
SUBSCRIPTIONS/MEMBERSHIPS
Another important point before starting a long trip is to cancel all your subscriptions or membership which you have accumulated during the time.
We mean not only the electricity, water, gas, and internet but also all the little things which you probably won’t use anymore like Magazines, Sport TV programs, Prime Amazon, gym and others.
TRAVEL GEAR

These are all the points which we organized before our trip around the world.
We think that certain things are essential to prepare before you go anywhere as it is definitely better to be ready for everything.
This post was created after our escape from Santiago de Chile to Buenos Aires due to the demonstrations. We also met many travellers who due to the current situation in several countries of South America, have been forced to change their plans. They lost a lot of money as they had to cancel their flights and reorganized the whole trip again.
We recommend to organize just first flight and accommodation in advance and not to plan your trip for two months ahead with flights and everything. It is much better to enjoy traveling with no plans which also provides more flexibility and adventure.

Caro amigo lector ,si estas leyendo este post es porque, señoras y señores, lo hemos conseguido ,,, yuppy👍🔝🥁🥁🎉Estamos definitivamente cumpliendo nuestro sueño y hemos empezado a viajar en América del Sur y por el mundo entero con un billete de solo ida, sin planes ni fechas concretas establecidas.
Ahora mismo, mientras que estas leyendo nuestro post seguramente estamos en algún lugar de Argentina disfrutando del paisaje. En principio fue Chile nuestro primer destino, sin embargo debido a las protestas del pueblo Chileno por la subida de los precios y la decisiones del gobierno de usar los militares para parar las mismas creando solo mas desórdenes , hemos decido (de momento) cambiar planes. Lo que sabemos por cierto es que cada dia que pasará será un dia mas en lo cual estaremos orgullosos de nuestra decisión y de lo que estamos haciendo.
Pienso que muchos de vosotros estarías pensando….
¿Sois ricos de familia? ¿Como vais a hacer con el trabajo? ¿Como vais a ganar el dinero para viajar? ¿Y la familia, como podéis estar lejos de vuestras familias?
Para todas estas preguntas os puedo indirizar en otro post que hemos escrito en el momento exacto que hemos dejado nuestros trabajos y vidas para seguir nuestro sueño.
AVISO: Esto no es un post para dar envidia!
La verdad es que hemos decidido escribir este post porqué pensamos que si lo de viajar alrededor del mundo es tu sueño lo puedes (DEBES) conseguir tu tambien.
Necesitaras solo 3 cosas en este camino:
- Que creas en ti mismo y en tu sueño
- Una base de dinero
- Un poco de organización
- Y el resto vendrá solito, te lo aseguramos.
- Lo siento amigo en los primeros dos puntos eres tu el único que puede hacer algo con eso, sin embrago aquí abajo intentaremos ayudarte en lo que es la organización de un viaje.
Nuestro plan (sin planes)
En los últimos meses hemos pensado continuamente en que haremos o donde iremos , sin embargo cada vez volvíamos a las mismas dudas. Así después de un poco de tiempo hemos decidido viajar con un plan (sin planes) y ahora te explicaremos de que se trata.
Un plan sin planes es algo como: tienes que organizar lo básico para un viaje sin pensar en que hacer o donde ir exactamente. Suena un poco raro verdad!!
Nosotros por ejemplo hemos organizado todo hasta el ultimo detalle (PLAN), sin embrago hemos dejado al caso que vamos a hacer en este viaje (NO PLANES).
Os voy a explicar algunas cosas que hemos decidido adoptar en nuestro viaje:
- Intentaremos viajar lo mas posible sin aviones. Viajar lentamente es sinónimo de disfrutar más los lugares y también de ahorrar dinero. (También es bueno por el ambienté).
- Seguir lo mas posible el verano y los buenas estaciones
- Respetar nuestro budget diario
- No tener prisa y seguir nuestras sensaciones
- Una vez al mes alquilar un buen hotel y disfrutar de todas las comodidades (esto siempre respetando el punto N3)
No puedes imaginar cuanta adrenalina te puede dar el no saber que vas a hacer mañana, sin embargo aunque sea el chico mas loco , aventurero y/o desorganizado del mundo hay cosas que tendrías que hacer antes de empezar un viaje de este tipo si no quieres tener problemas en tu camino.
PLAN DE VIAJE
Aquí abajo te queremos dar una lista de nuestro plan o que pensamos que deberías hacer antes de aventurarte en tu sueño de viajar alrededor del mundo.
TENER UN BUDGET
Amigos la primera cosa que necesitáis para viajar es una cantidad concreta de dinero. Con un numero en vuestras cabezas podéis empezar hacer planes, como una idea de cuanto teneis que ahorrar cada mes o cuanto tiempo necesitáis para llegar a este Budget.
DECIDIR QUE QUIERES HACER Y CUANTO TIEMPO LE VAS A DEDICAR
Ok ya tienes tu budget o estas llegando cerca (VAMOS QUE TU PUEDES).
El siguiente paso es decidir que quieres hacer y cuanto tiempo le vas a dedicar a tu viaje. Por nosotros ha sido importante poner algunas reglas básicas ya que decidir viajar el mundo es un poco ambicioso si por a caso piensas dar la vuelta en 6 meses o un año.
Nuestro plan hasta hora es empezar en América del Sur, seguir el buen tiempo (verano) y respectar nuestro budget diario dividido en un arco de tiempo de un año.
DECIDIR EN QUE ESTACIÓN VAS A VIAJAR
Es muy importante sobretodo porque sabiendo en que estación vas a viajar en cada país te puedes evitar temporada de lluvias o mal tiempo. Por ejemplo, si vives en Europa y quieres ir a America del Sur en verano, tendrás que organizar en la estación opuesta a la tuya o sea en invierno. Bueno decimos que America de Sur es muy grande y tiene diferente temperatura en cada región sin embargo en general Octubre – Marzo es la mejor época para viajar ahi.
COMPRAR TU PRIMER VUELO
Si quieres viajar al otro lado del mundo y empezar tu aventura, en algún momento tienes que comprar tu billete de avión . Nosotros por ejemplo hemos comprado nuestro vuelo de ida desde Barcelona hasta Santiago de Chile 🇨🇱 porque después de dias de búsqueda esto era el vuelo más económico y mejor ubicado en base a nuestras preferencias. Os puedo recomendar Skyscanner como comparador de vuelos, que ademas muchas veces resulta también la mejor opción para comprar directamente en su web. Aqui les dejo un post con nuestro consejos sobre como encontrar vuelos baratos online.
PASAPORTE Y DOCUMENTOS
¿Que es la cosa mas importante para un viajador? Claramente el Pasaporte!
Si todavía no tienes el pasaporte os puedo decir que es la primera cosa que debes hacer porque dependiendo de vuestra nacionalidad tenéis que esperar para obtenerlo por lo menos un mes. Si ya tenéis uno, deberías EVITAR viajar con el documento que se acerca a la fecha en que caduca (muchos países no aceptarán pasaporte que caducan entro los seis meses a la fecha de vuestro viaje).
PS: Yo personalmente para recibir mi pasaporte renovado he tenido que esperar casi 2 meses así que tenedlo en consideración.
Otra cosa que igual os puede interesar es hacer el carnet de conducir Internacional. Normalmente tiene validez un año y por ejemplo en España en algunas comunidades tienen lista de espera de casi un mes para poder sacarlo. Probablemente si tengáis pensado usar algún coche en vuestro viaje es mejor organizarse con antelación.
COPIA DE DOCUMENTOS
Ok ahora que teneis los documentos es importante hacer una copia o mas bien dos de cada documento. Una copia de pasaporte es preferible llevar siempre con vosotros y la otra online. Tienes varias plataformas para salvar tus documentos online, por ejemplo Google Drive o Dropbox . Es importante recordar que estaréis viajando lejos de vuestra casa y de vuestras costumbres y los mas probable es que nadie os vaya a robar sin embrago como se suele decir, mejor prevenir que curar.
AVISAR LA FAMILIA
Probablemente os puede parecer un paso normal , sin embargo en general tu familia se tiene que preparar a todo esto, alguien mas alguien menos. En la sociedad actual no es normal que una persona deja todo y vaya a viajar sin planes de futuro preestablecidos, y tu familia hace parte de esta sociedad asi que mas vale avisarlos con tiempo.
AVISAR Y DEJAR EL TRABAJO
Paso importante y fundamental si estas trabajando y tienes un contrato. Mira bien las condiciones de tu contrato y organízate. Es importante que calcules bien porque a este punto lo que seguramente no quieres es perder dinero. Nosotros por ejemplo avisamos nuestros respectivos trabajos entre 2 y 3 meses de antelación así los encargados han tenido tiempo de encontrar sustitutos adecuados.
SEGURO DE VIAJE
Importante si no esencial como el pasaporte. Nosotros cada vez que viajamos fuera de Europa hacemos un seguro de viaje.
¿Sabes cuantas cosas te podrían pasar en un viaje?
En la actualidad hay un montón de seguros de viajes en el mercado sin embargo teneis que leer muy bien las cláusulas del contrato porque a veces es difícil encontrar un buen seguro. Nosotros usamos WORLDNOMADS, pensamos que es de lo mas completos, pensad que te permite asegurarte aunque estes ya de viaje y fuera de tu residencia. Lo recomendamos absolutamente.
VACUNAS Y MEDICAMENTOS
Si pensáis en hacer viajes tropicales y/o en países poco desarrollados es siempre mejor ver que vacunas necesitáis para visitar esos países. Normalmente en tu zona tendrás un ambulatorio donde te pueden asesorar y administrar las vacunas que necesitas. Ojo con los tiempos porque algunas vacunas se administran en el arco de varios meses.
En cuanto a los medicamentos, es siempre recomendable llevarse un Botiquín con lo básico que puedes necesitar en cualquier momento (antigripales, antibióticos, etc.). Es mejor que preguntes a tu medico de cabecera o en el ambulatorio por las vacunas.
PS: Si viajas en países pocos desarrollados es recomendables comprar un filtro de agua ya que no siempre vas a disponer de agua potable. Nosotros lo tenemos y va que una maravilla.
VISADOS
Ya tienes tu billete y sabes donde quieres ir, ahora necesitas ver si en tu viajes necesitarás algún tipo de visado. Dependiendo de tu nacionalidad necesitaras mas o menos visado para entrar en determinados países.
Muchas veces lo podrás hacer directamente en aeropuerto, en la frontera, online, o en tu pais de origen , sin embargo si no sabes bien tu plan (como nosotros ) es mejor que te hagas una lista de los países que obligan en tener un visado anteriormente.
Pensad que parar entrar en China es obligatorio para casi todos los países y no se puede hacer online, ni siquiera en el aeropuerto o fronteras así que si estais ya de viaje tendrias que buscar un pais alrededor de China que tenga un embajada Chinesa que te permita tramitar los papeles.
TARJETAS Y DINERO
En vuestro viaje casi seguramente se pagara en otra moneda que la vuestra. Si el viaje no será muy largo y ya sabéis donde vais probablemente es mejor llevaros algo de efectivo (posiblemente en dólares o euro), preguntad a vuestro banco si os puede conseguir algo. Os vamos a dar algún Consejo sobre cuantas tarjetas llevar.
Lo mejor es tener con vosotros una tarjeta de crédito, una de debito y una o dos tarjetas de prepago online pero con tarjeta física. Las primeras dos las podéis tener en caso de emergencia y no usar diariamente. En cambio las tarjetas de bancas online de prepago las podéis usar en vuestro día a día con simples Apps.
Nosotros usamos dos tipo de tarjetas de bancas online de prepago que tienen un cambio de valuta muy buenos y un taso de cambio irrisorio así que como bancomat son perfectas. Las compañías son Transferwise y Revolut , dos optimas tarjetas con dos sistemas diferentes de pago (uno MasterCard y el otro Visa) así que prácticamente estáis cubiertos en casi todo el mundo.
SUBSCRIPTIONS
Otro punto bastante importante antes de empezar un viaje es organizarse cancelando todas las subscripciones que habéis acumulado en el arco del tiempo. A eso me refiero no solo a luz, agua, gas y internet, pero también a todas las pequeñas cosas que probablemente no vais a utilizar mas (Revista , pay-tv, gym, etc).
MOCHILA Y EQUIPAMIENTOS
La mochila VA a ser Nuestra casa y entonces tenéis que tener una casa cómoda, resistente y lo bastante pesada para aguantar el peso varies horas en vuestras espaldas. Si os puede interesar yo Tengo una mochila de esta Marca que ademas de ser cómoda es muy resistente y Bien del Precio.

CONCLUSIONS
Esto es todo lo que Hemos organizado antes Nuestro Viaje por el Mundo. Pensamos que sea el imprescindible para que tu plan sin planes empiece ya con éxito ya que en un Viaje Nunca se sabe lo que te Puede Pasar.
