Barcelona is a big city and thanks to being currently one of the major tourist hotspots, you can find new places where to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner every single day.

This post will be all about the most important meal of the day, breakfast and brunch in Barcelona.

For many countries, breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It will give you energy for the full day and for us we definitely need to start our day with a proper breakfast.

For Simone (as being Italian) the classic breakfast would be espresso and croissant. In Spain people used to drink coffee and pastry or sandwich with ham (Iberico Ham if possible) or potato omelette.

Living in Barcelona for 11 years, we visited many places where to eat so in this post were are going to recommend you the best breakfast and brunches places in this amazing city. We will recommend you places with a different price range so you can plan ahead how much you want to spend for breakfast or brunch.

Personal Tip for visitors: Barcelona is famous for its scams mainly on the streets, so we would strongly suggest having some travel insurance to at least be safe and secure.

It took us a while to find places with a good coffee and great croissants, so here is our personal list with the best places for brunch and breakfast in Barcelona.

Hofmann

Hofmann is a famous Pastry shop located in Born. You can find here some incredible croissants (the mascarpone or raspberry are our favourites) and delicious cakes.

We also recommend a different version of tiramisu which is incredibly tasty (and this is what Simone is saying being Italian).  There are no tables inside of the shop so it is more for taking away but you will find a small corner where you can enjoy all the delicatessen on the spot.

Tip: The other day we found a small bar where you could enjoy the same variety of croissant and cakes like in Hofmann just a few meters away.

Takashi Ochiai

Takashi Ochiai launched in Barcelona in 1983. The Pastry Chef comes from Japan and in addition to the Catalan and French classic products, he also managed to slowly add oriental products such as Mochis or Dorayaki.

Tip: You have to try the croissants, incredible!

Escriba

Christian Escriba is one of the leading Pastry artists in Catalonia and Spain in general. He has a long tradition and at the moment you can find three different Pastry shops in Barcelona.

With his wife Patricia Schmidt, they make these shops a perfect place to have delicious breakfast or eat an amazing cake. The cakes and pastry decorations with sugar are just incredible.

La Pastisseria Barcelona

La Pastisseria Barcelona is owned by Juan Maria, a young Pastry Chef who is well known for his great skills and delicious cakes and croissant.

If you are interested to know more about him, Juan Maria won the award for the Best Pastry Chef in the World in 2011. He also wrote an amazing book named Sweetology, which for us is one of the best cookbooks.

Trigo Barcelona

Trigo BCN is a new opening in 2019 with a great offer of pastries, cakes and sandwiches. Read our full post about Trigo and what they offer.

Cooofe

If you want to have the same breakfast as in Italy, then visit Cooofe. They offer croissants and typical Italian buns for breakfast. The coffee is great and for the fans of salty breakfast, they serve delicious pizzas, focaccias and paninis plus natural juices prepared on the spot.

Pasteleria Tartela

This Pastry shop is the paradise for delicious cakes and pastries near Plaza España. We found this place based on friend recommendation and it remained on our personal list for delicious breakfast in Barcelona.

The place is very nicely decorated and you definitely have to try their cakes. The owner ensures that they do not use any artificial flavours so you don’t have an excuse.

Baluard

Baluard Barceloneta is a famous Bakery in Barceloneta neighbourhood. The bread makers tradition started in 1892 and you can taste really delicious bread from a baguette to rye bread.

Manso’s Cafe

Manso’s Cafe in Barcelona is located close to the Sant Antoni Market. It is famous for a great coffee and delicious homemade cinnamon rolls.

Where to eat Brunch in Barcelona

Ugot

Ugot is located in the Eixample neighbourhood. It is decorated in vintage style which reminds us of the classic old Spanish houses.

They offer a large selection of pastries and homemade cakes which are just delicious. At their menu, they have everything you could wish for when you are looking for a brunch place. The food is very good and mostly homemade, the staff is very attentive. We recommend Ugot if you want to have a good time and eat well.

Copasetic

Copasetic is another place in the Eixample neighbourhood, in fact, a few meters from Ugot. For us perhaps the Best Brunch place in Barcelona.

The Menu is based on very tasty dishes (organic beef, poultry chicken and bluefish) and they offer varieties in terms of food allergies and vegetarian or vegan dishes. As for drinks, the cocktails are very balanced. Copasetic is 100% recommended and it is on the top of our list where to eat brunch in Barcelona.

Picnic

Picnic offers an international menu, which is continually changing based on the season or product. It is a perfect place to enjoy a delicious brunch with tasty cocktails.  It is also opened some days for dinner so do not miss the chance to try their dishes.

La Desayuneria

La Desayuneria probably serves the Best pancakes in the city. It is located in front of the San Antoni Market and in 2018 they opened a second place on the street Comte D’Urgell 260.

This place is also great for the fact that you can have breakfast and brunch from the early morning until late afternoon.

Tip: We are going to reveal a secret, both the pancakes and syrup that goes with it are homemade.

Majestic Breakfast Experience is probably one of the best places for brunch in Barcelona.

Be aware that it is NOT going to be a brunch on a budget but we believe the for once it is worth it.  It is located in the famous Hotel Majestic Barcelona in the area were used to be the Drolma Restaurant, in its time one of the best restaurants in Barcelona.

Now it is run by the famous Chef Nandu Jubani, which always provide the highest quality of food.

In 2018 Majestic Breakfast experience was rewarded as the Best Breakfast in the European hotels. At the end of the week, it becomes an amazing brunch place so do not miss the opportunity to taste extraordinary brunch in Barcelona.

Sunday Feast in Cecconi’s

Sunday Feast in Cecconi’s is located inside of the Soho House Barcelona
 in the Italian restaurant Cecconi’s.

If you like Italian food then this brunch place is for you. Every Sunday you can find buffet tables full of salads, sausages, cheeses, pizzas, focaccias, lasagna, fish, meat and much more. There is also a dessert corner which is just delicious.

We recommend brunch in Cecconi’s if you want to spend your Sunday in a nice atmosphere, great food, tasty cocktails and friendly staff.

Barcelona es muy grande y gracias a su alta presencia turística cada dia abren nuevos rincones donde disfrutar de una buena comida,cena o incluso desayuno.

Y proprio de este ultimo os quiero hablar en este articulo, para muchos países el desayuno es la comida mas importante del dia.

Viene bien cargada para afrontar todo el dia, para mi (Italiano) el clásico desayuno sería espresso y croissant (o capuccino 🤪). Aquí en España es normal beber café y algún bollo o un bocadillo con jamón (Ibérico seria lo mas 😛😋) o tortilla de patata.

Visto nuestra larga estancia en esta ciudad, (la seguimos considerando nuestra segunda casa) os vamos a escribir de los sitios que para nosotros quedaron encima de las demás por oferta, que sean diferentes a nivel de precios, donde desayunar o hacer un brunch como dios manda.

Se trata de de sitios con buenos cafés (ha sido bastante difícil encontrar un buen café en Barcelona hace años), personal simpático y preparado que te den gana e volver una y otra vez.

Os voy a incluir mi personal lista donde encontrar los mejores croissant en esta ciudad.

Desayunos

Hofmann: famosa pastelería que se encuentra en el Born, tienes unos croissants increíbles (lo de mascarpone o de frambuesa son mis preferidos ) o pasteles buenísimo, por ejemplo la versión de su tiramisu esta increibilmente buena( y esto dicho de un italiano lo dice todo 😉).

No tienen mesas en su interior es una pastelería mas para llevar (take away) aunque tiene un rinconcito dentro donde puedes disfrutar sus delicias.

PS: Hasta hace poco en la misma calle estaba un bar con mesas donde podías disfrutar de la mismas variedad de croissants y pasteles.

Takashi Ochiai: Otro referente en Barcelona desde el 1983 . El Chef pastelero viene de Japón y poco a poco ademas de los clásicos Catalanes y Franceses ha añadido en sus menús productos y classicos orientales como los Mochis o el  Dorayaki. (Teneis que probar sus croissants, increíbles 🤤).

Escriba: Christian Escriba es unos de los artistas pasteleros referente de Cataluña , y de España . Viene de una larga generación y puedes encontrar de momento tres outlets en Barcelona.

Con su mujer Patricia Schimdt hacen de estas tiendas un sitio donde desayunar, comer pasteles o panes increíbles. Su decoraciones con azúcar son preciosas.

La Pastisseria Barcelona: Juan Maria dueño de esta empresa es un joven emergente que ya a dado mucho que hablar, sus pasteles y croissants son buenísimos. Si os interesa este joven gano el premio de mejor pastelero del mundo en 2011 y escribió un libro buenísimo, el nombre es Sweetology que para mi es lo mas.

Trigo Bcn: Se trata de una nueva apertura en Barcelona y si quereis conocer las maravillas que hacen podéis leer nuestro post aquí.

Cooofe: En esta cafetería es como si vais a desayunar en la misma Italia, tienen croissants y bollos típicos del desayunos Italiano. El café esta buenísimo y tienen de diferente calidades. Si no fuera bastante tiene una parte salada con pizzas y focaccias, paninis y un rincón donde preparan zumos naturales.

Pastelería Tartela: Esta pastelería es un oasis de ricos pasteles y bollerías cerca de la plaza España justo en frente del parque. Encontramos este rincón porque un amigo nos lo recomendó y se quedó en nuestra lista de imprescindibles. El local es muy sobrio y bonito y os voy a repetir que tenéis que probar sus pasteles 🥧 🍰🧁🎂🍪 🤤, el dueño asegura que no usan ni colorantes ni mejor antes de sabores artificiales así que no os queda otra que ir a probar.

Baluard Barceloneta: Baluard es mas una panaderia que un local para desayunar con mucha historia. Desde 1892 preparan panes deliciosos y es totalmente recomendable de nuestra parte.

Manso’s Cafe: Este local se encuentra cerca del Mercado de Sant Antoni. Es famoso por un cafe bueno y deliciosos rollos de canela hechos ahi.

Donde comer Brunch en Barcelona

Ugot: se trata de un local situado en el Eixample Izquierdo muy coqueto y un poco vintage en su estilo que me recuerda el arreado de casas antiguas.

Tiene una gran selección de tartas y pasteles caseros que están muy ricos, en su carta tienen todo lo que uno pueda desear en su brunch. La comida esta muy rica y bien elaborada y el personal es muy atento y por cualquier cosa intentas satisfacer tu deseos o problemas alimenticios. Lo recomendamos si queréis pasar un buen rato y comer bien.

Copasetic: Otro local en el Eixample Izquierdo, de hecho a pocos pasos de el Ugot. Para nosotros quizás de lo mejor sitio que hay en esta ciudad (es nuestra opinion personal 🤩😜).

Su carta se basa en platos muy ricos ( su carnes ecológicas de ternera y pollo de corral y pescado azules), tiene bastante variedad en cuanto a alergias o direcciones alimentrias (vegetarianas , veganas ). En cuanto a bebidas los cocktails son muy equilibrados. Recomendable 100%.

PS: Tienen un sistema de contribuir con 60 cent 0 1 euro para pagar un café o bocadillo a la gente más s necesitada que me parace una cosa muy buena .

Picnic: Otra joya en esta ciudad, esta vez se encuentra en el Born cerca de Parc de la ciudadela y el museo de chocolate (mira este post si queréis saber mas sobre el museo).

Volviendo a esta gema, tiene una carta variada y internacional, que va cambiando continuamente en base a temporada o producto. Está perfecto para gozar de un buen brunch o de sus ricos cocktails. Me parece tambien que abre algún dia por la cena asi que no perdas la ocasión de probar sus platos.

La desayunería: Probablemente los mejores pancakes de la ciudad que hemos probado, se sitúa frente al nuevo mercado de San Antoni y en 2018 abrieron otro en la calle comte D’Urgell 260. Es un sitio donde puedes hacer tu desayuno o brunch desde la primera hora de la mañana hasta la tarde.

Os voy a revelar un secreto 🤫, su masa de pancakes y sirope que lo acompaña son caseros 😋.

Majestic Breakfast Experience: Probablemente se trate de uno de los mejores sitios para brunch de la ciudad, eso si el presupuesto va a salir un poco pero pienso que valga la pena probarlo un vez.

Esta situado en el famoso y centenario Hotel Majestic exactamente en el espacio de lo que fue el Drolma Restaurant(en sus tiempos uno de los mejores restaurante de la ciudad condal ).

Ahora esta asesorado por el reconocido Chef Nandu Jubani, que ya por si es sinónimo de calidad. En el año 2018 ha sido galardonado como mejor desayuno de hoteles de Europa. Los finde de semanas se transforma en verdadero brunch asi que no perdéis la ocasión de disfrutar de este espacio.

Sunday Feast at Cecconis: Este restaurante hace parte de la cadena de Hotel club privados Soho House y si queréis hacer un brunch en su versión Italiana es el sitio adecuado para ti.

Lo hacen cada domingo y en su largo buffet podéis encontrar de todo, ensaladas, embutidos y quesos de Italia, pizzas y focaccias, risotto, lasañas y mucho mas. Tiene un rincón de postres que son delicioso. Lo recomendamos si quieres pasar un domingo en un buen ambiente, buena comida, ricos cocktails y personal cordial.
